FAQ
About the Rate Checker
Where does the Rate Checker's pricing data come from?+
Two public sources: BLS Occupational Employment & Wage Statistics for state-level labor wages, and Angi's published national cost guides for the total job-price range. We adjust the national guide using your state's wage data relative to the national wage for that trade — not a local price survey, and not Servinix customer data. We're pre-launch and don't have that yet — it's our honest best estimate from public sources, clearly cited on every result. Full breakdown with all sources and as-of dates: servinix.com/rate-checker/methodology.
Is this a real quote or appraisal of my business?+
No. It's a directional estimate for a quick sanity check, not a quote, appraisal, or formal pricing analysis. It doesn't account for your overhead, insurance, equipment, profit margin, or local demand — see the methodology page for exactly what is and isn't included.
Which states and trades does the Rate Checker cover?+
Plumbing, HVAC, and Landscaping today, across California, New York, Texas, Florida, Ohio, and Georgia. We're expanding both as we curate more sourced data — each addition is just new rows in the dataset, not a rebuild.
