Check what your customer gets before you send an invoice
In the Send invoice window, the old View Preview button showed a sample email. The sample named the wrong company and listed tax twice. It was not the email your customer receives. That preview has been replaced by View Summary.
What the old preview got wrong
- It showed another company as the sender.
- Its totals did not add up, because tax was counted twice.
- It kept showing the customer's saved address after you edited the To address.
Your customer never received this sample. The email that is sent uses your business name and the correct totals.
What you see now
Open Send invoice, then select View Summary. The summary shows:
- To: the address the invoice will go to.
- Amount: the amount due.
- Due Date: the date the invoice is due.
- Payment Link: Yes or No. It shows whether the email includes a payment link.
The summary also says: "The email's design may differ."
Before you start
You need a draft invoice and access to send invoices.
Steps
- Open a draft invoice.
- Select Send invoice.
- To change the recipient, edit To. Then press Send Invoice only when you are ready to send. Pressing Enter in an address box no longer sends the invoice.
- Select View Summary and check the recipient, amount, due date and payment link.
- Select Close, then select Send Invoice.
What it means for your customer
The summary is a check of what the send will do. It is not a picture of the email. The design and wording of the email your customer receives can differ from the summary. Your customer sees your business name on the email.
Common questions
Can I see the exact email before I send it? Not today. View Summary shows the key facts only.
